If you find yourself in Southwest Colorado, I HIGHLY recommend a drive through Uncompahgre National Forest. As my boyfriend and I drove through, we were constantly stunned by the majestic nature. I actually asked him, “Did we die and go to heaven? I could hardly imagine a better view.
Our destination was Silver Jack Reservoir — a huge lake surrounded by trees and mountains. However, this is definitely one of those places where the journey is the destination. Driving through the forest and seeing Aspen trees and bright colored wildflowers pop out as you turn a corner is a treat in itself, and you’ll want to pull over as you see rivers and magnificent meadows that interest you!
I definitely want to come back and camp. This is one of the most beautiful, unforgettable places Ive ever been!
Tips:
You WILL lose cell phone service, so download an offline Google Map in case you get turned around while in the forest.
Take it slow— the roads are dirt and washboards.
Pack a lunch and have a picnic atop a rock next to a lake!

I hope you love this as much as I did!
